Our first step is to optimize your data. The Federal exclusion lists and State Medicaid sanction lists rely on alphabetical matches. Without optimized data, the likelihood of receiving a false negative is very high — possibly missing a real exclusion due to slightly incorrect or partially incomplete names.
“False-negative” means receiving a misleading negative answer because the name submitted is not the complete name or the name has somehow changed. It amounts to an imperfect check that leaves you vulnerable to the employment of excluded persons. We help you meet the higher standard of “what you should have known”.
To avoid these matching misses, we include all possible alternative names within your data. For example, your employee “Bill” is also checked as “William.” Hyphenated names are separated to provide more thorough matching iterations. Our proprietary algorithms can even find people hiding exclusions under prior names due to marriage, divorce, and/or remarriage.
Similar adjustments are made with any vendor data sent to us. For example, we know that vendor “XYZMed Mgt” within your data might actually be the excluded vendor working under the name “XYZ Medical Management, Inc”.
This optimized data is matched against current versions of the Federal OIG LEIE exclusion list, SAM (GSA EPLS which includes the OFAC SDN “terrorist” database) as well as any applicable State Medicaid lists.
